On the Isle of Man we have a very active local osteoporosis support group. We have about 200 members and are growing all the time. It is important that we have a strong group so that we can discuss improving care for osteoporosis with the Department of Health and the Hospital. The more voices asking for change, the quicker we will get it.
We have regular fund raising events like coffee mornings and fashion shows, but we also try to provide information evenings once or twice a year. This allows people to come and talk to doctors, physiotherapists, dieticians etc to find out how best to manage their own condition. |

| We arrange talks for practice nurses, district nurses and other health care professionals so that they have the most up to date information regarding the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis. |

| These are just some of the ways that we are trying to raise awareness of osteoporosis and provide help and support to people who have it. Please get involved. We would love to hear from you and would value any comments or suggestions. |
